The Art of Choosing: A Journey Through Color, Texture, and Emotion

The Art of Choosing: A Journey Through Color, Texture, and Emotion

by Carolina

Behind every beautiful table setting lies a story , and this one took days to write. What may seem effortless at first glance is, in truth, the result of a thoughtful and intentional creative process. From the very beginning, I knew I didn’t want just a “pretty table.” I wanted a composition that would awaken emotion, invite conversation, and celebrate the beauty of detail.

Choosing each element — from the placemats to the napkin rings — became a dance between intuition and precision. I spent hours layering different color palettes, comparing fabrics, adjusting tones under natural light, and pairing embroidery with ceramics. I looked for contrast and harmony, for surprise and softness. Some combinations felt too bold, others too quiet. It took time, trial, and a lot of stepping back to simply observe.

The shapes mattered as much as the shades. Scalloped edges, hand-stitched florals, structured weaves, each piece had to not only stand on its own, but also speak beautifully with the others. I paid attention to texture: the way linen plays with porcelain, the shimmer of beaded napkin rings against matte cotton, the crisp elegance of a simple white plate grounding more elaborate patterns.

More than anything, I wanted the final result to feel collected — not curated. A table that feels alive. That tells a story of travel, of craft, of memories yet to be made.

Every piece you see here was chosen with care and a quiet kind of joy. And it’s that same joy I hope Lulu Maison brings into your home — not just in how it looks, but in how it feels.

With Love,

Carolina
